The African Cultural Foundation Wien is excited to announce the first NIA Empowerment Space Artist Residency, taking place from 1 November – 31 December 2025 in Vienna. This program supports six BIPoC artists by providing free studio space, visibility, and the opportunity to share their artistic practice with the community.


****What Is Offered****

- Shared studio/atelier space in Vienna for 2 months
- Support in developing one public workshop per artist (open to all)
- Visibility through our communication channels and networks
- A final showcase event presenting the works created during the residency
- Professional documentation (photo/video) of your creative process

What is asked



- Artists should use the space regularly during the residency period
- Each artist offers one participatory workshop (topic is open, e.g. painting, photography, performance, writing, dance, sound, interdisciplinary art)
- Willingness to participate in the final showcase and interviews

Eligibility



- Emerging or mid-career BIPoC artists based in Austria or with ties to Vienna
- Artists from any discipline (visual arts, performance, multimedia, etc.)
- Open to individuals or small collectives (up to 2 people per slot)
