a&o hostels and hotels

a&o was founded in 2000 by Oliver Winter and currently operates 38 hostels with around 28,500 beds. The Berlin-based budget group is represented in 25 cities and nine European countries. The next new location will be Florence from early summer 2024. a&o's guest mix is diverse: backpackers, solo travelers, families, school groups and clubs are all part of the a&o target group. The number of business travelers and senior citizens is also increasing. With 6.1 million overnight stays (2022: 5.55 million), 2.7 million guests (2.2 million) and revenue of EUR 217 million (172), a&o recorded its most successful year in the company's history in 2023. As part of its sustainability strategy, a&o will be Net Zero in 2025, i.e. the CO2 emissions per overnight stay will then be less than three kilograms, the rest will be offset.
